The Aquinas women's volleyball team traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan for a WHAC battle against Concordia on Wednesday evening (Sept. 8) at the Cardinal Fieldhouse. This is the fourth consecutive win for the Saints over the Cardinals.
Aquinas won the three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-20, and 25-18 as the Saints improve to a 5-5 (1-0 WHAC) record as Concordia drops to 4-7 (0-1).
AQ led CUAA in all six major statistical categories by leading in kills (42-29), hitting percentage (.129-.014), assists (38-28), blocks (14-5), digs (73-67), and aces (4-1) on the way to the victory.
Meredith Kraus led the Saints with 12 kills on a .273 hitting percentage to go along with 14 digs and four blocks. Abbie Harpenau also notched double-digit kills with 11 on a team-high .409 hitting percentage with six blocks and three digs. Emily Jones contributed seven kills, while Jackie Rozell had six and Abbi Perkins had five.
Chloe Mitchell collected 32 of the 38 assists for AQ in the three sets to go along with seven digs. Adrien Yondo gathered a team-high 21 digs in the contest and dished out the other six assists. Jones led the way defensively at the net, totaling 10 blocks including two solo blocks.
The Saints will have another big weekend hosting the Aquinas/Cornerstone Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Sept. 10-11) in the Sturrus Sports Center. Aquinas faces St. Thomas at 3:00 PM and IU-Kokomo at 7:00 PM on Friday, before taking on Rochester at 1:00 PM and IU-South Bend at 3:00 PM on Saturday.
