Men's Hockey Drops Second Game vs. Dearborn

The Aquinas men's hockey team looked to get back in the win column on Saturday, January 22 when they faced The University of Michigan Dearborn Wolverines.

In the first period the Wolverines went up when they found the back of the net at 11:24, and then made the score 2-0 when they scored once again at 7:39. Despite having three penalties in the first period the Saints were able to thwart off Dearborn's power plays. Aquinas out-shot the Wolverines 11-10 in the period, but still found themselves down 2-0.

During the second period, both teams were unable to find the back of the net. The Wolverines saw 4 minutes in the penalty box on two different penalties, but the Saints were unable to capitalize on the situation. The Wolverines out shot the Saints 18-13.

During the final period Shane DiTullio was penalized for holding for 2 minutes. The Saints were able to kill this power play in hopes to even up the score. After two more penalties on the Wolverines, and unsuccessfully scoring the Saints pulled Michael Allman with two minutes remaining. After many close calls, the Wolverines went the other way and scored on an empty net in 45 seconds. This would put the Saints chances to bed.

Both teams had 34 shots on goal during the game.

The Saints will be back in action January 28, when they play against Rochester at Southside Ice Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
