Dearborn, Mich. – The Saints returned to the ice this afternoon (Oct. 29) to take on the UM-Dearborn Wolverines at UMD Ice Arena. UMD would jump out to an early 3-0 lead in the first period and AQ was never quite able to get going. The game would end 7-0 in favor of the Wolverines.

Aquinas now moves to 2-4 on the season with an 0-2 CCWHA record.

The Wolverines would be the first team to score, beating Laura Pointon in net with 11:45 left on the clock in the first period. UMD would score again just two minutes and 30 seconds later and once more just three minutes after that. Stout defense from the Wolverines would keep the score at 3-0 as both sides entered the first intermission.

The Wolverines would outshoot the Saints 21-3 in the first period.

The second period was much closer from a shots on net perspective, as UMD would only outshoot Aquinas 13-8 in a defensive battle. However, UM-Dearborn would be efficient with the shots it took, scoring another three goals in the second period. The two teams would enter the locker rooms for the second time with the score 6-0 in favor of UMD.

Just a minute and three seconds into the third period, UMD would score one more to make it seven on the day. Neither side would score again for the remainder of the game as the Wolverines skated off the ice with a 7-0 victory. UMD outshot AQ 19-9 in the third period.

In total, Pointon saved 46 of 53 shots on net for a .870 save percentage. Pointon now moves to an 0-2 record on the season.

The Saints are back on the ice next weekend (Nov. 4-5) for a two-game road series against Penn State. The games will be played at Pegula Ice Arena in University Park, Pennsylvania.
