2023 Aquinas Athletic Hall of Fame Nominations Now Being Accepted

Nominations for the 2023 class will be accepted until December 1, 2022

The Aquinas athletic department is accepting nominations for the Coach Terry Bocian AQ Athletic Hall of Fame and the 2023 induction class. Nominations for individuals or full teams can be submitted either online or through the mail and will be accepted for consideration until December 1, 2022.

During Homecoming weekend in mid-September, Aquinas celebrated a terrific 2022 induction class. The second AQ Athletic Hall of Fame class included former athletes Jackie (Braspenninx) Ehnis (women's basketball, 2003-07), Aaron Hendrick (men's tennis, 2011-14), Natalie Kent (women's track & field, 2003-07), Amy Panse (women's soccer, 1997-00), and Jeo Pantoja (men's soccer, 2007-10). Historian/statistician Mike Dean (1984-current) was inducted as a lifetime achievement award recipient and the 1980 men's soccer team was also enshrined.

There are now 70 individuals and nine teams enshrined in the AQ Athletic Hall of Fame. Preparations are already underway for the 2023 induction class.

For former student-athletes, a nominee becomes eligible for the AQ Athletic Hall of Fame five years after leaving Aquinas. Nominees must have earned at least two varsity letters and must have represented Aquinas in a positive manner, both as an undergraduate and as alumni. The selection shall be based primarily on athletic achievement, but other considerations will include character, leadership, integrity, academics, degree earned, as well as contributions to the teams and to Aquinas.

Entire teams are also eligible for nomination in the AQ Athletic Hall of Fame. Eligible teams must have competed in the national tournament of their respective governing body and must be 10 years removed from that national competition participation.

For a non-athlete, the nominee must have demonstrated a special or sustained interest in Aquinas for a minimum of five years, while having notable contributions to the athletic department as a whole or to specific programs.

Any non-member of the Board of Directors is eligible to submit a nomination to the AQ Athletic Hall of Fame using either the online nomination form or a printable form that can be mailed to Aquinas College Athletics. Both forms can be found at the top of this page. Once a nomination is received and approved for consideration, it will remain in effect indefinitely. A Board of Directors committee will vote on and select the Hall of Fame inductees from the submitted nominations.

Next year's AQ Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony is tentatively scheduled for Friday, September 15, 2023 – during Homecoming weekend.
