Southfield, Mich. – The Saints took to the road this afternoon (Nov. 5) to take on the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils for the final match of the regular season. The Blue Devils would win the first three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-14, and 26-24.
The tough result moves Aquinas to 12-22 on the season with an 8-12 conference record. The match also confirms AQ's position as the number seven seed entering the WHAC postseason tournament.
Lawrence Tech held the advantage in most of the statistical categories, leading in hitting percentage (.225-.111), blocks (8-4), assists (37-35), and digs (48-30). Aquinas had more kills (38-37) and aces (2-1).
Brooke Nicholson led the team in kills with nine (.188) on the match. She also led the team in blocks with three block assists.
Samee Teachworth had eight kills (.375), a block assist, and two digs.
Abbi Perkins was just behind her with seven kills (-.037) throughout the match. She would also contribute an assist, a block assist, and a dig.
Cassie Sustrich played well as the setter, setting 34 kills, adding three kills of her own, while also getting a block assist and four digs defensively.

The Saints will be back in action for postseason play this Wednesday (Nov. 9). AQ enters the conference tournament as the seven seed and will take on the second-seeded Siena Heights Saints. Siena Heights will host the match in Adrian, Michigan with the start time set for 7:00 PM.
