The Aquinas women's basketball team hosted its senior day game today (Feb. 12) against the Siena Height Saints.

Destini Lewis, and student manager Kailee Kurth were all honored for their time and commitment to Aquinas. On senior day,
Marissa Brady scored her 1,000th career point as an Aquinas Saint, becoming the 22nd Saint to accomplish that incredible feat. At the end of the day, it was SHU won took home the 76-67 win.
This result gives Aquinas a 15-14 overall record with a 10-9 conference record. AQ is currently 5th in the WHAC standings, trailing #17 Indiana Tech, Rochester, Siena Heights, and Concordia.
The Aquinas Saints had a great first quarter, outscoring Siena Heights 20-17. SHU started off the quarter with two consecutive threes, jumping out to an early 6-2 lead. The Saints kept pace and made several buckets in the paint to tie the game at 6-6.
Marissa Brady and
Eliza Brown took over for AQ in the final five minutes of the quarter. Brady scored a nine points, while Brown made two threes. Consistent offense was rewarded for Aquinas as they ended the first quarter of play with a 20-17 lead.
The second quarter saw the offensive pace slow down as the teams scored a combined 27 points in the quarter. Siena Heights erased the small deficit early and took a 21-20 lead.
Jordyn Wigg scored her two first points of the game shortly after, converting on both of her free throw opportunities. The teams exchanged the lead several times before
Isabel Reemsnyder made two threes to end the quarter. Aquinas would enter halftime with a 35-29 advantage in the battle of the Saints.
Siena Heights' Peyton Banks and Aquinas' Brady took over the game in the third quarter. The two stars exchanged buckets in the paint on either side of the floor. Banks accumulated ten points in the first five minutes of the third quarter.
With 04:24 left to play in the third, Brady scored her 18th point of the game. This bucket gave Brady her 1,000th point in her career at Aquinas College. This achievement caps off her impressive season as she has accumulated 412 points, 305 rebounds, 34 steals, and 100 blocks. Brady is currently 12th in the country in rebounds per game with 11.3 and is 5th in the nation in total rebounds. Brady is also 2nd in the NAIA in blocks per game with 3.7.
Banks would continue to pour it on in the third quarter, scoring 17 points alone, as SHU looked to claw its way back into the game. Her last-second three-point shot for Siena Heights would give them a 52-50 lead entering the final quarter of the game.
Aquinas hit five shots from beyond the arc to start the fourth quarter. Siena Heights exchanged buckets with AQ as the two teams looked to keep pace with each other. AQ would take a 67-66 lead with three minutes and 14 seconds left to play. Unfortunately for Aquinas, the hot hand from beyond the arc became cold and Siena Heights managed to close out the game. Aquinas wouldn't score again for the remainder of the game as SHU would go on to win 76-67.
Aquinas shot the ball well today, converting 23-51 shots for a 45.1% field goal percentage. AQ shot 10-19 from beyond the arc, good for 52.6% when shooting threes. Siena Heights was just a tad better, converting 27-46 from the field, good for a 58.7% shooting percentage. SHU was 9-19 from three and an impressive 13-14 from the charity stripe.
Brady led the team in points (20), rebounds (7), blocks (1), and steals (2).
Emily Cline had the most assists with four, while also picking up a rebound and a steal.

Siena Heights held a large advantage in rebounds (30-18), assists (23-17), and blocks (5-1). Aquinas had more steals (7-6), fewer turnovers (10-17), and fewer fouls (11-14).
Aquinas wraps up its regular season with a 5:30 PM home matchup against Rochester on Wednesday (Feb. 16) in Sturrus Center.
