The men's hockey team was back in action this evening for the next round of the WHAC Tournament. After defeating Cleary, the Saints went up against the University of Michigan Dearborn Wolverines. After three periods of play the two teams went to overtime, where the Saints were defeated 5-4 after an early goal from the Wolverines.

The Saints drop to 19-9 as Dearborn rises to 20-9-2 and advances to face Indiana Tech in the WHAC Conference Finals.

The Wolverines struck first when they scored at 10:24 of the first period. They then doubled down when they scored at 3:25 of the first period again. The Saints didn't let the first period go silently though as Danny Barry scored at :35. Barry was assisted by David Elford on the play.

The Saints got off to a hot start in the second period as Darren Johnson scored at :41. He was able to even up the score when he was assisted by Elford and Brandon Schwandt. Minutes later the Wolverines came back with a goal at 15:30. The Saints matched once again at 10:21 when David Elford scored. He was assisted by Mike Curran.

Continuing in the second period, the Saints took the lead at 3:59. Senior, Nick Long scored when he was assisted by Greg McQuade. At the fleeting seconds of the period, the Wolverines evened up the score sending it tied 4-4 to the third.

Despite both teams having opportunities in the third, the squads went to overtime. The Saints were then scored on :46 seconds into the period on the first shot to finish the game.

After a great season, the #17 ranked Saints wait hoping for a bid to the ACHA National Tournament. If selected the Saints will head down to Saint Louis, Missouri for the National Tournament from March 10-20.
