The Aquinas men's tennis team opened conference season with a bang as the team shutout Lourdes in a road match on Saturday evening (Feb. 27) in Sylvania, Ohio. In the 7-0 win, the Saints won all the doubles matches and took all singles matches in straight sets.
Doubles partners
Joel Hancox and
Max Goldbeck-Lowe moved to 4-2 on the season in the #1 doubles with a 6-3 victory.
Tom Gangov and
Brandon McEachern also continued their success in the #2 match by taking home a 6-1 win.
Nicholas Klak and
Simon Uhlen wrapped up the doubles point with a 6-2 finish in the #3 doubles.
Hancox picked up his second #1 singles win after taking the match 6-4, 6-3. Gangov continued his dominance on #2 doubles matches, moving to 5-1 this semester after a 6-3, 6-1 win. Goldbeck-Lowe took a 6-1, 6-2 win the #3 singles for his fourth win this season.
Newcomer
Josep Coll Llopis won his first match of the season in #4 singles by also winning 6-1, 6-2. McEachern took care of business in the #5 singles match in the 6-1, 6-3 victory.
Mariano Arroyo was able to gain his second win of the season in the #6 singles match after a 6-1, 6-0 win.
The next matches the Saints will play will be two over spring break as they will travel to Orlando, Florida. On March 8, AQ will face Kansas Wesleyan before turning around and play Southeastern on March 10.
