After a little over two weeks the men's lacrosse team was back in action when they faced off against the Flying Dutchmen of Hope College. After being scoreless in the first half, the Saints were unable to gain enough momentum in the second half of the contest falling 19-8
With this contest the Saints fall to 2-1 on the season while Hope rises to 5-1.
In the first half the Dutchmen put on an offensive clinic when they finished the half with a score of 10-0. The Saints saw their first goal of the game at 13:03 of the third quarter from
Mitch Haggart. Haggart would lead the way for the Saints on the day with five total goals. Also scoring goals for the Saints was
Zachary Sweet,
Hunter Roberts, and
Joey Fitzgerald all with one goal.
On the defensive side,
Clayton Boerigter played three quarters and tallied seven saves on 21 shots. In the final quarter
Austin Hynote faced seven shots and was able to save two.
In the contest the Saints had 37 ground balls and nine caused turnovers compared to Hopes 42 and eight.
Aquinas will look to get back in the win column when they face off against nationally ranked Saint Ambrose next week in Davenport, Iowa. The game is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM on Monday, March 21.
