Aquinas Tennis Defeated by UNOH

Both the men's and women's team lost 4-0 to the Racers

The Aquinas men's and women's tennis teams took on UNOH in the second home match of the spring season on Saturday (Mar. 19) in Holland, Michigan. Both teams were defeated 4-0 as the matches were cut short as soon as the Racers got the winning point. The UNOH teams were both at least receiving votes in the top-25 both as the men are ranked #8 and the women are receiving votes. The AQ men's team now has a record of 7-8 (2-1 WHAC) on the season, while the women are 7-11 (1-2 WHAC) this year.

On the men's side, the Racers took two out of three doubles matches to gain the doubles point. Joel Hancox and Max Goldbeck-Lowe went down in the #1 doubles 4-6, as Tom Gangov and Josep Coll Llopis were defeated in the #2 match 2-6. The pairing of Simon Uhlen and Nicholas Klak were able to get a win in the #3 doubles match by a 6-1 score.

Only the #1, #2, and #3 singles matches were finished as UNOH was able to clinch the win. Hancox was defeated in the #1 match 2-6, 2-6, while Gangov was tripped up in the #2 singles 3-6, 3-6 and Goldbeck-Lowe went down in the #3 match-up 5-7, 1-6.

The women did not fare much better as the Racers defeated Vanessa Heylmun and Carlota Arzabe in the #2 doubles 1-6 and then picked up a win by default in the #3 doubles due to AQ not having enough players to take the doubles point. Sofia Gomez and Joska Volder were not able to finish the #1 doubles match.

Two of the three singles points were also wins by default as the third came in the #5 singles as Heylmun went down 1-6, 0-6. Gomez, Volder, and Hausman were not able to finish their matches.

Both teams will next move on to play Lawrence Tech in another WHAC match-up as they travel to Southfield, Michigan on Saturday (Mar. 23) with the matches beginning at 5:00 PM.
