The Aquinas men's tennis team finished up the WHAC regular season against Concordia on Friday (Apr. 9) at the Grand Rapids Racquet and Fitness Center. The Saints took down the Cardinals 7-0 and only dropped four sets all day in the process. AQ finished out the WHAC regular season with a 4-2 record and currently sit third in the standings as the other teams still have some matches to play. They also currently have a 9-9 overall record.
Brandon McEachern and
Josep Coll Llopis won their first WHAC doubles match together in the #1 doubles match by a score of 6-0. The #2 match was also a 6-0 sweep as
Simon Uhlen and
Nicholas Klak finished the conference season 5-1 and are 9-3 on the year overall. The Saints took the doubles point as the #3 doubles match was awarded to
Joel Hancox and
Max Goldbeck-Lowe after a CUAA withdraw.
Hancox, McEachern, and
John Elizalde all won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0, not dropping a single set. Hancox picked up his second conference win and sixth win overall in the #1 singles match. In the #2 match, McEachern secured his second WHAC win of the season and his third win of the year. Elizalde won his first match of the year in the #5 singles.
Mariano Arroyo was victorious in the #3 match by a score of 6-0, 6-2 to improve to 2-0 in the WHAC and 4-3 on the year. In the #4 singles,
Jackson VanBergen won 6-2, 6-0 for his first conference win and second win overall on the season.
Tom Gangov was awarded a win in the #6 singles by a Cardinal withdraw.
Aquinas next competes against Davenport in a nonconference match on Saturday (Apr. 9) at the MVP Sportsplex, beginning at 2:00 PM.
