Box Score The Aquinas men's tennis team faced NCAA DII opponent Davenport for the second time this season on Saturday (Apr. 9) at MVP Sportsplex after facing them earlier in the fall semester. After battling to a close 3-4 loss earlier in the year, the Saints fell to the Panthers 0-7 in the rematch. AQ falls to 9-10 on the season with two more nonconference matches left in the regular season.
Davenport was able to win two of the three doubles matches to gain the doubles point. The one doubles match won by Aquinas was in the #3 match where
Simon Uhlen and
Nicholas Klak won a thriller to improve to 10-3 on the season as a duo. The match was won 7-6 (7-5), but the Panthers took the other two matches.
Joel Hancox and
Max Goldbeck-Lowe fell in the #1 doubles match 5-7 and are now 8-5 on the year as a team. In #2 doubles,
Brandon McEachern and
Josep Coll Llopis were upended 1-6 and are now 1-3 on the season in doubles matches.
The Panthers took all six singles matches with the best match coming in the #2 singles as
Tom Gangov pushed his opponent to three sets, but took the loss 6-3, 3-6, 1-6. Hancox fell in the #1 match 2-6, 3-6, Goldbeck-Lowe went down in #3 singles 0-6, 0-6, Uhlen was tripped up in the #4 match 3-6, 3-6, Coll Llopis was downed 5-7, 3-6 in #5 singles, and Klak lost the #6 match 0-6, 1-6.
Aquinas will have an extended layoff until Wednesday (Apr. 20) when a nonconference match with Adrian will start at 3:30 in Adrian, Michigan.
