Indiana Tech Blanks Men's Hockey in 9-0 Shutout

Fort Wayne, IN - After a 5-2 loss last night at the Southside Ice Arena, the Saints looked to even up the series this afternoon with a road victory against Indiana Tech. Unfortunately for Aquinas, Indiana Tech smothered the Saints from the start of the game, resulting in a 9-0 Warrior's win.

AQ remains above 500 with this loss and have a record of 13-12 and 8-9 in conference. Tech continues to dominate at 23-2 and 15-1 in conference play.

The Saints were able to hold off the Warriors for the first eight minutes of the game, but the Warriors scored first at 11:51. Roughly three and a half minutes later, Tech would strike again to put them up 2-0. They would take this lead until the end of the period.

In the second period, the flood gates opened and doomed the men. Two goals came within the first three minutes of the second period to put the Warriors up 4-0. Before the end of the period, the Warriors put two more goals in with one of their players notching a hat trick before the final period.

Momentum would never come the Saints way in the final period as Indiana Tech scored three more times to send the Saints packing back to Grand Rapids with a final score of 9-0. This is the Saints only shutout loss of the season.

In goal, Michael Allman faced 52 shots with nine goals against him for a total of 43 saves. The Saints had 24 shots this evening.

AQ will look to get back in action on Friday, January 27 when they host the Grand Valley State Lakers. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 PM at the Southside Ice Arena.
