Lawrence Tech Sweeps Game Series with Saints

LTU takes the game 5-1

Box Score Byron Center, Mich. — Yesterday (Nov. 3) Aquinas traveled to the Farmington Hills Ice Arena to take on Lawrence Tech, AQ started the match with a pair of goals but LTU made a comeback and took the match 6-4. Tonight (Nov. 4) Lawrence Tech made way to Southside Ice Arena for the second match of this two game series with the Saints. The Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech held strong against the Saints of Aquinas and went on to sweep the series by taking the match 5-1.

Lawrence Tech held control for much of the first period, but no team managed to beat the keeper till late in the first. The Blue Devils found the back of the net with 3:19 remaining. But due to a dislodged piece of glass, play could not resume. Both teams cleared the ice for maintenance . After repair play resumed, no team found a goal for the remainder of the first.

Due to the maintenance intermission, there was only two minutes of dead time until the next period commenced. Once again, no team managed a goal till late in the period. The Blue Devil's snuck in two more with just five minutes remaining. At the horn, the game stood at a 3-0 difference in favor of Lawrence Tech.

Starting the third the Saints were in rough standing, but Logan Wesolek managed to find Nick Dashner and with a move Dashner pulled a goal in for the Saints. The hopes of the AQ fans shined a bit brighter but would diminish later due to another LTU goal, making it 4-1.

In a last stitch effort Aquinas pulled the goalie to play with an additional man. But this led to a long distance goal for the Blue Devils, making it 5-1 with just 1:15 remaining. The Saints would skate on for the remainder of the match but no goals would come of it.

In total Aquinas faced 53 shots, while Lawrence Tech faced 35. The Saints resume play on Friday (Nov. 10) at 6 p.m. against Concordia at the Artic Edge.
