Box Score Fraser, Mich. — The Aquinas men's ice hockey team traveled to the Big Boy Arena to take on the Warriors of Rochester. This is AQ's second series of the regular season with the Warriors. AQ tallied two goals in each period and Rochester only found their two in the third. Saints take the win in Rochester 6-2.
The Saints found the back of the net just five minutes into the game with a power play as
Alex Johnson slapped it in with assists from
Brandon Rozema, and Brendan MacCatty. Just over three minutes later
Nicola Vogel claimed a goal with assists from
Austin Gilmore, and
Xavier Erickson. The rest of the period came and went with no additional goal.
The Saints were feeling hot as
Austin Gilmore went the distance and tagged one in unassisted just under seven minutes into the second period. The Warriors attempted to keep the Saints at bay for the remainder of the period. But Shane Dituillio pulled the rug out from underneath them and snagged a goal with just under twenty seconds remaining. Ditullio was assisted by Denhartigh, and
Christian Look.
Vogel must have enjoyed the recent holiday as he came back for seconds with another goal just under six minutes into the third period. Vogel wasn't the only one with a second helping as he was assisted by Look, and Gilmore. With just over six minutes remaining in the contest Rozema found the back of the net with a pass combination from
Dylan Rumpke, and Johnson.
Rochester found the back of the net off a penalty shot with just under two minutes to play. The Warriors tagged in another goal just over 20 seconds later, but the time was already run. Aquinas takes the victory 6-2.
The Saints are back in action Saturday (Dec. 2) at 7:30 p.m. with Rochester, for their second game of the series. This will be the fourth time this season the two teams take the ice together. Aquinas will look to complete a double series sweep.
