Grand Rapids, Mich. — The Aquinas men's tennis team lost 4-0 to No. 21-ranked Cardinal Stritch on Saturday (Feb. 25) inside the Grand Rapids Racquet and Fitness Center.
The match was called off after the Wolves won all three doubles match-ups to start and then picked up three more singles win. The Saints dropped to 1-3 overall on the season.
The top two double matches both finished 6-2. AQ's No. 1 pairing of
Tom Gangov and
Josep Coll Llopis were unable to beat Daniel Vishnick and Jasper Schaadt. No. 2
Max Goldbeck-Lowe and
Nicholas Klak suffered the same fate against Reuben Giorgio and Giovanni Vitali.
Mariano Arroyo and
Jackson VanBergen were swept 6-0 in the No. 3 doubles match against Adrian Gomez and Daniel Ezcurra.
In the singles matches that were finished: No. 4 Klak lost to Gomez (6-1, 6-2), No. 5 VanBergen lost to Andres Saavedra (6-0, 6-0) and No. 6 Arroyo lost to Ezcurra (6-0, 6-1).
Aquinas looks to turn things around at (RV) Indiana Tech on Friday (Mar. 3).
