#4 Concordia Bounces Men's Lacrosse From WHAC Tournament

Ann Arbor, Michigan - Today, the men's lacrosse team traveled to Ann Arbor for a WHAC Semifinal matchup against Concordia. The Saints remained competitive in the first half, but the nationally ranked Cardinals second half gave them the decisive victory to bounce AQ from the WHAC Tournament.

In today's game the Cardinals drew first blood at 13:59 and doubled down with another goal at 11:03. The Saints would dig themselves out of this 2-0 deficit though with Jack Rioux scoring for AQ at 8:39. This came on an assist from AQ's new assist leader, Jon Jardis. Then Mitch Haggart would tie the game at 4:12 on an unassisted goal. The two teams headed to the second tied at two despite AQ outshooting their opponents 17-8.

The shots swung in favor of the Cardinals in the second as CUAA outshot AQ 10-6. Of these shots, two found the back of the net for Concordia, while AQ couldn't place the ball between the uprights. The goals came at 14 minutes and 8:44. The two teams had a defensive focused mindset in the first half with 20 turnovers between them.

CUAA found magic in the third quarter outscoring the Saints 5-1. After three Concordia goals, Zachary Sweet scored his first of the game at 6:34. Hunter Roberts was credited with the assist. Two more Concordia goals would see AQ down 9-3 entering the fourth.

Sweet would score again at 13:59 on a man up opportunity after burying a shot assisted by Brady Waling. Two more CUAA goals came before a Haggart goal at 4:05. This unassisted goal marked his 34th of the year. One more goal came for the Cardinals before the final buzzer as they advanced to the WHAC Tournament Final on Saturday against Indiana Tech.

Clayton Boerigter faced 27 shots on goal, saving 14 of them. Sweet and Haggart each had two goals for AQ while Reed Chastain had four ground balls and Kevin LaHaie had two caused turnovers.
