Amelia Edens Commits to Aquinas Swim and Dive Program

Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Aquinas women's swim and dive team, along with head coach, Kristy Hepp, are thrilled to be announcing the newest addition to the program, Amelia Edens. Edens hails from Whiteland, Indiana, and is set to graduate from Whiteland Community High School. She will begin her academic and athletic careers here at Aquinas in the fall as she intends to pursue a degree in psychology.

Edens has been swimming for the Whiteland Warriors varsity team for six years and has built an impressive portfolio. She has been named the most valuable swimmer and an all-county honorable mention two times. She is also a three-time recipient of the Whiteland Community High School winter athlete award and has been a captain for the team for three years.

She was a part of the first team in Whiteland to qualify for states in the 400-meter relay in both 2020 and 2021. That same team also earned a sectionals runner-up finish.

Edens has been swimming for a total of six years and has spent time with the Franklin Regional Swim Team and the Warriors Swim Club when she isn't competing with the WCHS varsity team. She has been named an Academic All-American and an Academic All-State student-athlete in addition to her accomplishments in the water.

Coach Hepp is very excited to have Edens joining the team for the 2023-24 season. This is what she had to say: "Amelia is a very welcome addition to our family! During her visit, Amelia impressed me with her technical skills and speed in the water. However, what impressed me the most was how easily she engaged with our team and jumped right in as one of us. I can see her elevating our team culture with her positive attitude, work ethic, and dedication to her studies. It's obvious that she loves the water and has so much more to accomplish during her next four years with us!"

When asked what made Edens want to join the AQ family, this is what she offered: "I chose Aquinas because of the environment and the people. I instantly felt like I belonged here and could see myself spending the next four years of my life at AQ!"
