#7 Aquinas Women's Soccer Handles (RV) Trinity Christian, 3-0

The Saints got a pair of goals from Maeva Lichtensteiger in road win

Palos Heights, Ill. — The No. 7-ranked Aquinas women's soccer team rolled to its fourth straight win on Wednesday night (Sept. 13) at (RV) Trinity Christian in Palos Heights, Ill. The Saints improved to 4-0-1 on the season while the Trolls (3-1-1) suffered their first loss of the year.

In the 32nd minute, Sydney Shenk opened the goal scoring with an unassisted tally. AQ led 1-0 at the break outshooting the Trolls, 10-2.

The second half was more of the same with Aquinas taking 13 more shots to hold a 23-4 (12-3 shots on target) edge by the end of the contest.

Two of those shots found the back of the net courtesy of Maeva Lichtensteiger. The junior forward scored twice in the 53rd and 82nd minute to become AQ's team leader in goals this season with four.

Shenk provided the help on the third and final goal for her second assist this season and matches Lichtensteiger with a team-high eight points this year.

Also, by scoring the first goal in a shutout victory, Shenk picked up her 16th career game-winning goal. Last week Saturday, in the in the 4-0 win over (RV) Lindsey Wilson, Shenk broke AQ's all-time program record in career game-winning goals by surpassing former teammate Hannah Crum (2018-22) and Bri Hill (2007-09), who each finished with 14 game-winning goals.

AQ sophomore goalkeeper Kayla Shuk had to make three saves to earn her third shutout of the season. The Saints defense, anchored by Jess Graham, Avery Tack, Bridget Sherman and Olivia Bowling, did well to limit the pressure in front of Shuk's net.

The Saints haven't allowed a goal in 206 minutes of game time.

Aquinas looks to keep that streak alive on Saturday (Sept. 16) in a homecoming affair against Grace (2-4) at the AQ Athletic Field. The women are scheduled to kickoff at noon with the AQ men's soccer team playing Goshen at 3 p.m.
