#4 Saints Climb Over Cleary Cougars

Aquinas continues their WHAC dominance in 3-0 victory against CU

Grand Rapids, Mich. — The No. 4-rated Saints once again took to their home pitch as they hosted the Cougars of Cleary on Wednesday (Oct. 2). CU held strong defensively but AQ managed to find the faults in the foundation and went on to tally three goals before the final horn. This victory pushes AQ to 8-0 (5-0) on the season.

Aquinas 3, Cleary 0

The start of the contest saw the Saints jump to action with quick offensive movements. The Cougars responded with digging in their claws and playing heavy defense. CU managed to keep AQ away from the box, but AQ continued to knock until the door came off the hinges. Finding the first goal of the night was Sydney Shenk in the 27th minute as she managed to slink one just out of reach for the keeper with a touch from Maeva Lichtensteiger

Aquinas continued to hound the Cougars goal but were unable to find an additional notch within the remainder of the first half.

As the clock struck in the second half, so did the Saints, this time Lichtensteiger netted herself a goal with a pass from Olivia Bowling in the 57th minute.

AQ went on to find one last goal of the evening. Marie-Louise Abild finished the ball with a flourish from a pass from Sandra Segovia, leaving no chance for the keeper to get a hand on it.

The Saints would control the remainder of the contest as time came to expire.

With the final horn AQ had continued their conference dominance as well as maintaining their undefeated streak.
