Late Clemitson Goal Leads to Draw at Concordia

Clemitson's third goal of the season gave AQ a valuable point in the standings.

Ann Arbor, Mich. – The Saints took to the road on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 23) to take on the Concordia University Cardinals. It was CUAA that struck first, scoring the first goal of the contest in the 79th minute. However, Joshua Clemitson found a response just five minutes later to equalize and allow the Saints to walk away with a much-needed point.

The result moves AQ to 10-4-1 on the season with the Saints narrowly holding onto fourth-place in the WHAC standings with just two games left to play in the regular season.

(RV) AQ 1, CUAA 0

It took both teams about 15 minutes for the offenses to get going with Ivan Radovic making the first save of the contest in the 17th minute followed by a Joe Lockey header that was saved. Radovic was called to action once again 14 minutes later, making back-to-back saves to keep the game at 0-0.

In total, the two teams each had five shots in the first half as they were both looking for a weak spot in the opposition.

Concordia opened up the second half firing, generating several shots in the first 10 minutes, but they were unable to score. The game settled back down with the two sides playing defensive chess. CUAA finally broke the stalemate in the 79th minute, putting AQ on its back heels with just 10 minutes left to play.

Concordia's goal was short lived as Clemitson found the back of the net just five minutes later after a pass from Yussef Hakmaoui. The Saints then generated another scoring chance right at the very end, but a Concordia save kept the game level.

The 1-1 result granted each team one point on the WHAC table.
