Box Score Grand Rapids, Mich. – The No. 4-ranked Aquinas Saints traveled across town to take on their rival Cornerstone University with the WHAC title in the balance. The two teams locked in a defensive battle that could not be broken. 90 minutes was unable to determine a clear winner with Cornerstone implementing a very stiff defensive effort and strategy. The fixture ended in a 0-0 result, marking this game as the first time this season that AQ has dropped points.
Aquinas moves to a 13-0-1 record with a 10-0-1 conference record. The result gives Aquinas 31 points on the conference table, locking in a share of the conference championship. UNOH is the only team that could potentially tie with AQ for the title if the Saints were to lose to Rochester and UNOH beat Cleary on Wednesday (Oct. 30).
#4 Aquinas 0, Cornerstone 0
The Saints poured it on offensively to begin the contest, generating six total shots and one on target over the first 20 minutes. However, Cornerstone's stout defense kept the ball out of the net. The game shifted towards more of a back-and-forth, but the Golden Eagles could not beat out the AQ backline.
AQ had five more shots and two more on target, but CU did a nice job of keeping the AQ offense at bay.
The second half was much of the same, but AQ did a much better job of holding possession of the ball. AQ's best chance of the game came in the 74th minute when
Savannah Reese found herself with the ball at the top of the box and put her shot just wide to the left of the net.
AQ then survived a scare when the Golden Eagles managed their first breakaway of the game, but they also put the shot wide left to keep the score level at 0-0. Despite AQ's best efforts, the game came to a close with the game still scoreless.

- AQ also led in corners with three to CU's one.

Aquinas will play for the outright WHAC championship on Wednesday (Oct. 30) with a road contest against Rochester Christian. With a win or a draw, the Saints will be the lone champions at the top of the table.
