Box Score Byron Center, Mich. – The Aquinas women's hockey team headed east to meet up for a day two match up against the Michigan State Spartans. The Saints were able to secure two goals during today's (Nov. 3) contest. With the Saints acting early they achieved these goals within the first two periods. Even with this early jump, the Spartans worked more proficiently bringing the score final score to a 10-2 victory for the Spartans.
The result of the contest moves the Saints to a 0-4-0 record this season.
Michigan State 10, Aquinas 2
The Spartans offense and defense were yet again unmatched as they took the ice. They sunk the puck into the net within the first five minutes of the game. They managed to bring in five goals before the Saints were able to Secure their first. However, the Saints were not deterred. Just before the end of the first period
Kaeleigh Kachmarski brought the first goal in for the Saints on an unassisted breakthrough.
In the Second period, the Saints held the Spartans to only three goals. The Saints were able to match this with a goal of their own just after the four-minute mark.
Reyna Dominczak scored the goal with the assistance of Julia Dehondt and
Kylie Rancilio.
The experienced Spartans were able to close in on two more goals before the game came to a close.
By the Numbers:
- Izzy Buckett recorded a remarkable 68 saves over the course of the game as MSU totaled 78 shots on net.
- Michigan State has had AQ's number for the past few seasons. The last time the Saints got the best of the Spartans was in 2017.
