Oakland City, Ind. - After coming off a split the day before, the Saints fell in both games against the Mighty Oaks. In game one, the Saints struggled to get the bats rolling, only bringing in two runs by the end of the seven-inning game. In game two, the Saints put up a fight, doubling their hits from the first game.
Dawson Shearer hit his first home run of the season in the first game for the Saints, bringing in two RBI.

Game 1: Oakland City 12, Aquinas 2 (7 innings)

In the bottom of the first inning, the game really kicked off for the Mighty Oaks. The hosts brought in eight runs on five hits, leaving the Saints struggling to come back for the rest of the game.

Although the Saints battled hard, they were only able to record three hits for the game.
Chase Ingersoll hit a single to center field in the top of the second.Â

The Mighty Oaks kept them to a score of zero until the top of the 6th.
Ryan Gillings started this rally off for the Saints with a single to center field. Gillings' pinch runner,
Jayden Timmer, was able to steal second when the Mighty Oaks pitcher had a wild pitch. Shearer came out with bats blazing as he had the second home run of the season for the Saints.Â

Game 2: Oakland City 7, Aquinas 4Â

Game two started much better for the Saints. In the top of the first inning, the Saints were once again started by Ingersoll with a single to left field. Ingersoll scored when the fielder made an error on
Nicolas Verdugo's at-bat, putting him on first. Gillings and
JD Gillies were both left on base with Verdugo after Oakland City recorded the third out of the inning.Â

Mark Kalahar held the Mighty Oaks to zero in the second inning only allowing one hit. In the second inning, the Mighty Oaks scored one run, bringing the score to 2-1 Aquinas.

The Saints rang in another good inning in the top of the third. Timmer started this inning singling to right followed similarly by Ingersoll to center. Verdugo added another single for the Saints, bringing in Timmer and putting Ingersoll on third. With Verdugo stealing second, the Saints were ready to score. An error got Gillings on first, sending Ingersoll home. Verdugo then scored on an error by the third baseman. The inning ended with three runs, three hits, and three left on base.

This was the last that the Saints scored. The Mighty Oaks had better luck at the plate, bringing in seven runs.
