Grand Rapids, Mich. — The Aquinas men's hockey team traveled to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to take on #16 Indiana Tech for a rescheduled match on Thursday (Feb. 8). The contest was off to a rush as the first period ended 3-2 for the Warriors. Five additional goals were scored for the remainder of the contest, unfortunately they all belonged to Indiana Tech. IT went on to claim the game 7-2.
This loss drops the Saints to a season standing of 17-16-0 (12-10), as the Warriors continue to 21-11 (18-4).
Aquinas 2, Indiana Tech 7
The long awaited rescheduled game between the Saints and the Warriors was finally underway. The two teams battled for control for much of the first period. With less than two minutes remaining the Warriors stamped their seal of control with the final goal of the period to put them over the Saints. As the horn sounded, AQ was just under the Warriors, 3-2.
IT were able to strike first at 1:59. Aquinas's
Dylan Rumpke found a rebuttal at 6:56. Rumpke put away a combination pass from
Gavin Rozema and
Brandon Rozema.
Tech found the back of the net at 12:30. But the celebrations were brought to heel as the rightful dynamic duo of Rozema and Rozema demonstrated another combination pass, this time
Kirwin Johnson was the Saint to put it away.
As the period came to dwindle away, the Warriors managed a short handed goal to cruise into intermission in front.
The remainder of the contest heavily favored Tech. IT went on to score two more goals in both of the following periods. Bringing the final standing to 7-2.

Randon Striplin faced 48 shots and allowed seven, giving him a save rating of .8541.
The Saints had 27 shots to Techs 48.
B. Rozema continues to rewrite the Aquinas history books. This contest marked his 164th game. Giving him the title of most games played in Aquinas history, surpassing Doug Zelenka.
