Lakeland, Fla – The Saints played just one nine-inning game this morning (Mar. 9) against the Trinity Baptist College Eagles. AQ led by as many as five runs in the fourth inning, but a late rally from the Eagles pushed them past Aquinas. AQ has now lost three consecutive decisions by just one run.
After letting another game get away, the Saints are now 6-9 on the season.

The Saints got on the board first after a massive Eagles error in the second inning moved
Nathan Wilcox from second to home and
Jayden Timmer from first to third.
Luke LaCross then hit a sacrifice fly to center field to put the Saints ahead by two.
The Eagles pulled a run back in the bottom of the third with a pair of hits, but AQ responded with a four-run fourth inning. Hits from
Ryan Gillings,
JD Gillies,
Luke LaCross, and
Aidan Schmuckal scored two of the runs for Aquinas. An ensuing sacrifice fly from Nicholas Verdugo and a pickle play gave AQ two more runs, extending its lead to five.
Trinity Baptist cut into the deficit with another run in the bottom of the fourth frame, but it wasn't until the seventh inning that TBC started its comeback. The Eagles hit two singles and two doubles off
Bryce Marvel to score three runs and reduce the AQ lead to just one.
The comeback was completed in the eighth inning when Trinity Baptist hit in a two-RBI double to take the lead. Verdugo hit a single to start the ninth inning and was moved into scoring position with one out. However, the Eagles generated two outs to strand the tying run on second and end the game.
By the Numbers
Jack Crittendon started the game for the Saints and struck out five over his four innings pitched, allowing just two runs.
Gillings and Gillies both had a pair of hits while LaCross led the team with two RBIs.

The Saints will look to righten the ship tomorrow (Mar. 10) with another morning game. This time, Aquinas will go toe-to-toe with Webber International. The first pitch is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
