Marion, Ind. — The No. 5-ranked Aquinas Saints women's soccer team traveled down to Marion, Indiana, to compete in their first road contest of the season with a match up with No. 15-ranked Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday (Aug. 28). The contest saw the Wildcats strike first in the second half, being the first team this season to find a crack in AQ's defense, but AQ turned face and found three straight goals to up the Saints to their 3-1 result.
This win propels
Kayla Shuk to 37 career wins, making her the winningest goalkeeper in an Aquinas women's soccer jersey. Her accomplishment breaks the previous record of 36 career wins held by Braeleigh McCoy who Shuk went on to be the secondary successor for.

Similar to the week previous, both teams battled to-and-fro but neither team managed a score within the first 45 minutes. The Wildcats found a stride early in the second by netting the first goal of the contest eight minutes after the second-half whistle.
IWU's revelry was short lived as
Sydney Shenk notched AQ's first goal with a pass from
Laia Cunill six minutes after the Wildcats struck.
As IWU found their stride, AQ took it away and found its own as they went on to collect two more goals. Cunill returned to the score sheet with an additional assist, this time
Avery Tack pierced the viel in the 79th minute. Cunill was feeling generous as she collected another assist in the 85th minute, this time with
Maeva Lichtensteiger put it across the line.
As the final horn sounded, the No. 5-ranked Saints had collected their second and back-to-back top-15 win of the season.
By the Numbers
- Aquinas led the contest with 15 shots to the Wildcats eight. The Aquinas defense held to Wildcats to only three shots on target over 90 minutes. AQ managed to place eight shots on target.
- AQ had eight corners to IWU's three.
- Lichtensteiger is the only Saint to score in both contests of the season.
