Box Score Fort Wayne, Ind. - The Aquinas College women's volleyball team toppled Indiana Tech in an intense four-set match to push their record to 16-1 (3-0). AQ came out strong to have a quick first set, but the Warriors banded together to give the Saints a run for their money for the three sets to follow. This win marks the Saints' first victory over Indiana Tech since 2022. After being swept in nine straight sets last season, AQ was hungry for a win.
#12 Aquinas 3, Indiana Tech 1 (25-15, 23-25, 26-24, 25-23)
Aquinas stormed out of the gate in set one and jumped on an early 10-3 lead, aided by Mallory Keller and Lauren Chioini, who claimed two kills each. IT responded briefly, but two kills from Samee Teachworth and a service ace from Jenna Lee muted the Warrior's efforts. Angelia Cutts and Lydia Harper were able to find their own kills to advance the Saints to a 23-13 lead. A service error from Indiana Tech finalized this set, 25-15.
IT bounced back in the second set to gain a quick 2-0 lead. The teams traded points early, but the Saints were able to sketch out a 12-7 lead after Chioini, Keller, and Teachworth threw down some kills. The Warriors found a few scoring sprees to climb their way back into the set, claiming a 17-16 lead. Aquinas mounted a late comeback but fell short as Indiana Tech capitalized on errors from the Saints to take this set 25-23.
Aquinas was back in the driver's seat to start the third set, earning a 7-1 lead. A service ace from Julia Schweihofer and a block assist from Lydia Harper and Teachworth kept AQ at a comfortable 15-9 lead. The Warriors rallied back for a nail biting finale, and brought the set to 24-24. A big block from Keller and Teachworth sealed the third set victory 26-24.
The final set was another closely attested affair, but the Saints found room to run gaining a 4-1 lead. Once again the teams traded points keeping the contest close. Aquinas managed to string together kills late in the set to give them a 20-16 advantage. A kill from Chioini closed this set out 25-23 and Aquinas walked away with the victory.
