Aquinas Maintains Undefeated Streak with 3-0 Win Over Taylor

Rittersberger and Schinkel put AQ over TU

Grand Rapids, Mich. — The Aquinas men's soccer team held their home opener on Saturday (Sep. 7) with a 4:00 p.m. kickoff against the Trojans of Taylor. The Saints came to life in the second half as they notched three goals within 15 minutes. These three goals were the only ones to be had, as AQ took the victory 3-0.

Aquinas 3, Taylor 0

As play commenced both teams battled and attempted to find strides, both making runs but neither managed a breakthrough. As the teams found gridlock, the clock wound down. The horn sounded the end of the half with a stand still of 0-0.

Both teams returned to the pitch hungry for a goal. AQ quickly forked and knifed their way into the net with a goal by Ricardo Rittersberger as he was assisted by Yussef Hakmaoui just 42 seconds into the second half.

The Saints were still famished as just 12 minutes later Jasper Schinkel stabbed a stand-alone goal of his own.

Rittersberger had room for more as he collected a second goal just two minutes after Schinkel, this time Rittersberger was assisted by Mason Sills.

The Saints looked for more trips to the goal line buffet but couldn't walk away with an additional serving. With the final horn, AQ had defeated Taylor 3-0.
