Box Score Byron Center, Mich. — The Aquinas College Women's Hockey Team kicked off a busy weekend with a commanding 8-2 victory over Wyoming at Southside Ice Arena. Although the originally scheduled 9:00 pm start was delayed by 22 minutes, the Saints wasted no time getting into gear, jumping to a 2-1 lead by the end of the first period, thanks to goals from Brooke Johnson and Alyssa Exline, who netted her first of four goals in the game.
Aquinas 8, Wyoming 2
After a competitive first period, the game remained tight for the first 16 minutes of the second, with the score still at 2-1. However, a quick one-two punch in the form of back-to-back goals just 44 seconds apart from Exline and Anna Castle extended Aquinas' lead to 4-1 heading into the third period.
A total of ten Saints players registered points in the game, with five different Aquinas players finding the back of the net. Bridgett Clay had a standout performance, contributing four points with a goal and three assists, while Paige Ike tallied three assists. Kaeleigh Kachmarski also made her mark with a solid effort.
The Saints dominated the third period, outscoring the Cowgirls 4-1 to secure the 8-2 victory. Goalie Izzy Buckett turned in a stellar performance between the pipes, stopping 33 of the 35 shots she faced, earning a .943 save percentage.
