Box Score 2 Oxford, Ohio — After a strong start to the weekend with two wins over Wyoming, the Aquinas Women's Hockey Team faced a chilly turn of events, and we don't mean the weather, on their road trip to Miami. The Saints endured back-to-back losses to the RedHawks in a tough series.
Sunday: Miami 4, Aquinas 1
The Saints started Sunday's match-up with promise, taking an early 1-0 lead in the first period, courtesy of an unassisted goal from Kaeleigh Kachmarski. However, the momentum shifted in the third period, as Miami scored four unanswered goals to claim a 4-1 victory.
Monday: Miami 9, Aquinas 0
Fatigue seemed to take its toll on the Saints during Monday's game. Playing their fourth game in five days, Aquinas struggled to keep pace, falling to the RedHawks in a 9-0 shutout.
Despite the losses, goalie Izzy Buckett delivered an admirable performance. Over the two-game series, she faced a staggering 128 shots and made 116 saves, finishing with an impressive .906 save percentage.
The weekend results drop Aquinas' record to 3-11 overall and 1-6 in conference play.
