Box Score

Dearborn, MI – The Aquinas College women's soccer team dominated play for 90 minutes on Wednesday night at UM-Dearborn but couldn't come away with the win as the game ended in a 1-1 tie. The 16th-ranked Saints suffered their second straight winless game in the WHAC after four straight victories to begin conference play.

Aquinas 1, UM-Dearborn 1

The Saints were looking to bounce back from Saturday's first WHAC loss to Lourdes, but instead only found the back of the net once despite a season-high in shots and shots on goal.

Timely goals have plagued Aquinas the past two games and it cost them a chance to get back in the win column after falling out of first place.

The Saints controlled possession throughout and produced countless scoring opportunities, only to be denied time and time again by Wolverines' keeper Julia Tasker.

After a scoreless first half that saw Aquinas put eight shots on frame, the Saints finally broke through in the 61st minute.

Reegyn Cady tallied the goal, while Abigail Kramer was credited with the assist on the play.

The lead, however, proved to be short-lived.

Less than a minute later, the Wolverines (2-8-3) answered to knot the game.

Kiersen Korienek registered a season-high 18 shots and nine shots on goal, which included hitting the crossbar late in the game.

The Saints had won their seven previous games against UM-Dearborn.

Coach's Comments

Head coach Jenna Smith is still confident in her team's ability to recover despite the disappointment of the last two games: "We've hit a few bumps in the road and are disappointed with the past week, but there is still a lot to play for, so we'll regroup and go again to finish the season strong."
