Grand Rapids, Mich. — With finals complete and Christmas break on the horizon, the AQ Saints weren't easing into the holidays — they were grinding through one of the most demanding stretches of the season. Aquinas Bowling's varsity men's and women's teams closed out the fall semester by competing in back-to-back Tier I events, beginning with the Roto Grip Keystone Quaker Classic (Fri–Sat, Dec. 19–20) and continuing at the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Classic (Sun–Mon, Dec. 21–22), both held in Allentown, Pa. Against deep national fields and under the pressure of four straight days of competition, the Saints showcased resilience, depth, and late-season momentum heading into the Christmas break.

Women's Results

The AQ Saints women delivered an outstanding weekend from start to finish, earning second-place team finishes in both Tier I tournaments, continuing their trend of steady improvement and competitive consistency. From singles play through Baker competition, Aquinas proved it could match up with anyone in the field.

At the Roto Grip Keystone Quaker Classic, Emilee Nowicki paced the Saints on the individual side, finishing seventh overall with a 915 series, setting a strong foundation early in the event. As the tournament progressed into team and Baker formats, Aquinas remained composed and efficient, stringing together quality frames and keeping constant pressure on the leaderboard.

The momentum carried into the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Classic, where Aquinas again impressed in singles play. Chloe Fisk rolled one of the top series of the entire weekend, finishing third overall with a 970, while Tayler Mohney followed closely behind, earning fifth place with a 922 series. Their performances highlighted the Saints' depth and ability to deliver when the lanes tightened.

Baker play once again proved to be a strength for Aquinas in both tournaments. With strong communication and disciplined shot execution, the Saints bowled confidently as a unit, with contributions throughout the lineup from Brooke Binder, Kayla Van Linden, Sophia Santo, Carly Pavka, Skylar Davy, and Laighnee Roll-Pike. By the close of competition, Aquinas had firmly established itself as one of the top varsity programs in attendance, heading into the break with confidence and momentum.

Coach's Comments (Women)

Head Coach Harold Klukowski praised his team's continued growth and composure:

"This group keeps getting better every tournament. When their backs are against the wall, they always find a way out. They bowled their best when it mattered most, and that's exactly what you want to see from a team heading into the second half of the season."

Men's Results

The AQ Saints men faced an early test at the Roto Grip Keystone Quaker Classic, finishing sixth overall in a competitive Tier I field. Despite a challenging Baker segment, Aquinas battled throughout the tournament and found positives to build upon.

Individually, Curtis Swezey led the Saints with a strong showing, placing eighth overall after rolling a 1080 series across five games. Bradyn Curtis followed closely with a 1007 series, while lineup adjustments proved valuable as Nicholas Schaberg stepped in to post 866 over the final four games, and Dylan Maurer contributed 847 across his final four.

The Saints responded in a big way at the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Classic, surging to a third-place team finish and one of their strongest performances of the season. Nicholas Schaberg was dominant on the individual side, leading the entire field with a tournament-best 1173 series, while David Schaberg added another top-10 result, finishing 10th overall with a 1029 series.

Team play was a major strength throughout the second tournament, as every bowler stepped up and contributed meaningful frames. The Saints were especially sharp during Baker play, executing their shots with confidence and composure. While Aquinas narrowly trailed Indiana Tech and Lawrence Tech in strike production, the performance reinforced the depth and competitiveness of both the Saints and the WHAC.
