Aquinas 70, UNOH 49

The Aquinas women's basketball team wasted no time setting the tone, opening the game on a 7–0 run behind layups from Paige Guernsey and Rhema Dozier, along with a jumper and free throw from Isabel Reemsnyder. Hannah Gillette checked in and added a free throw before Brynn Reams converted two more to push the Saints ahead 10–1. After a three from Brooke Asher put the Racers on the board, Guernsey answered with a layup to keep the momentum with Aquinas. Gillette then poured in five quick points, helping the Saints close the opening quarter with a strong 22–5 advantage.

The Racers opened the second quarter with a brief four-point spurt, but Dozier responded with a layup and a three-pointer to extend the lead to 29–9. Aquinas continued to control the pace as Reemsnyder knocked down another triple and Dozier added two free throws to stretch the margin to 38–16. Guernsey capped the half with a layup, sending the Saints into the break up 40–18.

Guernsey opened the third quarter by scoring the first six points for Aquinas, followed by a three from Dozier to make it 49–21. Both teams settled into a defensive battle, remaining scoreless for nearly three minutes before Brynn Reams broke the drought with a layup to push the lead to 54–23. A strong connection between Guernsey and Leah French closed the third quarter with Aquinas firmly in control, 60–34.

Reemsnyder opened the fourth with four quick points before UNOH responded with an 11-point run. Nia Moncrie checked in and answered with a layup for the Saints, while Clemmie Gadwood went 1-for-2 from the free-throw line to keep Aquinas ahead. The Saints maintained their composure down the stretch and closed out a 70–49 victory.

Coaches Comments:

"We played well tonight on both ends of the floor. We set the tone early defensively and made it difficult for UNOH to get in a rhythm," stated head coach Brian Morris. "Tonight we finally played a complete game. Extremely proud of all of our players. The last few practices we have been locked in and it showed tonight."
