Chicago, Ill. — The Aquinas College women's rugby team shipped out to Chicago, Illinois, on Friday (Mar. 14) to prepare for an early morning the following day (Mar. 15) for the Dawg Town 7s Tournament hosted by Loyola. The Saints competed in true competition twice on the day, then had a "motley" contest.

Aquinas's opening contest saw AQ take out Loyola (B) with a score of 20-12. After a designated break, the Saints faced off with Loyola (A). After a hard-fought 14 minutes, the Saints were unable to find the outside and found themselves underneath the host team by a score of 22-10.

Due to injuries suffered by all teams within the tournament, AQ's final showing was a "motley" contest. Meaning that two or more teams joined forces to continue play. The final game saw Aquinas join forces with Adrian to take on the motley of Loyola A and B. With a surprise of connection and fluidity, the Saint's motley toppled Loyola 22-5 to finish the day.

"All I can think of is the word 'resilience' about Dawg Town 7s. As a team, we had a few setbacks within the tournament and our first two games" shared Head Coach Dani Harris. "But we still came together to work as a team and support each other. Not every game was a win but the resilience was carried, lessons we learned show us what the future holds for AQWR. I'm truly excited!"
