Box Score 2 Campbellsville, KY—The AQ baseball team looked to bounce back after a tough doubleheader sweep on Saturday, taking on Campbellsville again Sunday for another twin bill. Despite a resilient effort and a strong offensive showing in Game 2, the Saints came up short in both contests.
Game 1: Campbellsville 7, Aquinas 5
In the opener, Aquinas nearly erased a six-run deficit but ultimately fell 7-5 to Campbellsville. Despite a strong push in the later innings, the Saints couldn't complete the comeback after the Tigers jumped out to an early lead.
Campbellsville struck first, plating four runs in the opening inning with a pair of doubles and a single. The Saints responded in the second when Stephen Weinert, who led off with a walk, came around to score on a one-out RBI single up the middle from freshman Brayden Monroe.
The Tigers extended their lead to 6-1 in the second, capitalizing on two RBI groundouts. But AQ fought back in the fourth, cutting the deficit to one. Ramsey Bousseau and Will Kovl started the rally with back-to-back singles, followed by Weinert reaching on a hit-by-pitch. Dawson Shearer dropped in a bloop single to right to drive in a run, and Grant Martin delivered a sharp single to left, bringing home two more. A bases-loaded walk by Luke LaCross made it a 6-5 game.
Unfortunately, the Saints couldn't push across the tying run, leaving the bases loaded. Campbellsville tacked on an insurance run in the bottom half, securing the win.
Despite the loss, Hudson Lubbers impressed in relief, tossing four innings while allowing just two hits and one unearned run. He struck out six without issuing a walk. Ethan Pequette took the loss, giving up six runs on six hits over two innings.

Game 2: Campbellsville 13, Aquinas 8
Despite an offensive outburst, the Saints fell 13-8 in Game 2, wrapping up a tough weekend series in Kentucky. AQ out-hit Campbellsville 17-16, but the Tigers' early scoring proved insurmountable.
Aquinas came out swinging, scoring three in the first. Kasy Shadduck singled in a run, followed by Landon Mueller crushing a two-run double to right-center, giving AQ a 3-0 lead. But Campbellsville responded with a five-run bottom half, taking control early. The Tigers added five more in the second, stretching their lead to 10-3.
The Saints clawed back with a run in the fifth before making a late push in the sixth. Ramsey Bousseau ripped a two-run single, while Eric Bryce and Jack Popp added RBI singles to cut the deficit to 12-8. However, Campbellsville added an insurance run in the bottom half and shut down AQ the rest of the way.
Bousseau led the Saints' offense, going 4-for-5 with two RBIs, while Mueller also drove in a pair. Bryce, Grant Martin, and Luke LaCross all collected multiple hits in the slugfest.

Coach's Corner
Head Coach Chris LaMange reflected on the weekend's challenges and the road ahead:
"I liked the improvement we showed at the plate today, but we left 24 runners on base in the two games. Timely hitting is the next step we need to focus on as we head down to Florida and continue working towards being ready to compete when WHAC play starts in two weeks."
Up Next
The Saints wrap up their pre-spring break schedule and now turn their focus to a busy week ahead. AQ will travel to Florida on Wednesday, with their first game against Northwestern at 9:00 AM on Thursday—the first of nine games in six days.
