Grand Rapids, Mich. – The 2025 season will be a historic one for the Aquinas men's tennis team, marking the final season not only for AQ but also for the WHAC conference. On Saturday, the Saints hosted Concordia (whose athletic department will be disbanded after this school year) and delivered a dominant performance, shutting out the Cardinals 7-0.

Aquinas set the tone early with a commanding effort in singles play. Tom Gangov led the way at No. 1 singles, breezing past Justin Pedro with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory. Nicholas Lourido followed with a steady 6-3, 6-3 win over Jan Lloveras-Freix at No. 2 singles, while Carlota Arzabe was flawless at No. 3, shutting out Connor Rogus 6-0, 6-0.
The Saints continued their dominance down the lineup. Josh Chlebek completed the singles sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Kaden Salts at No. 6.
AQ's success carried over into doubles play, where the Saints claimed all three match-ups in convincing fashion. Gangov and Marinelli teamed up at No. 1 doubles to defeat the Pedro duo, 6-1. Arzabe and Chlebek secured a 6-2 win over Lloveras-Freix and Cain at No. 2 doubles, while Nick Lourido and Hannah Lourido sealed the sweep with a 6-1 victory over Rogus and Salts at No. 3 doubles.

Coach's Comments:
Following the matches, Head Coach Kerri Orders reflected on the team's performance:
"This was a big day for our tennis program, as it was our first home match of the season, and it was amazing to earn a sweep in front of so many AQ fans! I'm incredibly proud of how each player competed today—they brought great energy, focus, and determination, which showed in the results. Now, we turn our attention to Friday's (April 4) home match against Lourdes. It will be a bittersweet moment for our team and me, as it marks the final home match for Aquinas tennis. We hope to have another strong showing and plenty of support from our fans!"
