Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Aquinas women's lacrosse team wrapped up its 2025 season with a hard-fought contest against Madonna on Saturday (April 12). The Saints posted their highest scoring output of the season but ultimately fell to the visiting Crusaders by a score of 16-9.

Madonna opened the game with a quick 3-0 lead, but Aquinas responded with a three-goal run to even the score. Sophia Schmader got the Saints on the board at the 9:17 mark, followed by a goal from Kylie Rancilio off a Schmader assist. Emma Picarazzi then capitalized on a man-up opportunity to tie the game 3-3. The Crusaders added one more goal in the final minute to take a 4-3 lead into the second quarter.
Schmader struck early again to open the second quarter, tying the game at 4-4. However, Madonna surged ahead with four straight goals to double up the Saints. Aquinas cut into the deficit with an unassisted goal from Vanessa Bailey and a late strike by Quinzy Lantz, making it 8-6 at halftime.
The third quarter turned into a defensive battle, with Madonna netting three goals to extend its lead to 11-6. Picarazzi added her second goal of the game with just 27 seconds left in the quarter, sending the Saints into the final frame trailing 11-7.
Madonna opened the fourth with two quick goals before Picarazzi stopped the run and completed her hat trick, bringing the score to 13-8. After two more Crusader goals, Lantz found the net for the second time to make it 15-9. Madonna added one final goal in the closing moments to cap the game 16-9.
In goal, Kennedy Stilson turned in a season-high performance with 21 saves on 37 shots on goal. The senior goalkeeper played all 60 minutes for the Saints, helping keep the game within reach despite sustained offensive pressure from the Crusaders.
