Grand Rapids, MI – It was a tough afternoon for the Aquinas men's rugby team, as the Saints fell 61–12 to crosstown rival Davenport.

Davenport 61, Aquinas 12

Injuries continue to test the Saints' depth, and while several young players stepped up, Coach Lance Hohaia acknowledged that improvements are needed across the board. The defensive struggles proved costly, with Davenport crossing for nine tries to Aquinas' two.

Despite the loss, Gavin Thompson stood out for AQ, accounting for both of the Saints' tries while showcasing his effort on both sides of the ball. Liam Inman added one conversion to round out the scoring.

Coach's Comments
"We are missing a few key players due to injury, which certainly showed today. What really hurt us was our defensive effort, which simply wasn't at the level we expect. The positive is that our young players are getting valuable game time, and since it's still early in the season, we have the chance to regroup, learn from this, and set a higher standard moving forward," said Head Coach Lance Hohaia.
