Aquinas Celebrates Fisher, Moore and Shepherd-Kelley as March Saints of the Month

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Each month during the academic year, Aquinas College Athletic Communications celebrates the performances, personalities, and people who make Saints Athletics special by naming the Saints of the Month. For March 2026, the honorees represent excellence in competition, leadership in the locker room, and unmatched support behind the scenes.

This month's Saints of the Month include Alea Fisher of Women's Softball as the Female Saint of the Month, Cameron Moore of Men's Basketball as the Male Saint of the Month, and Women's Volleyball Assistant Coach Jenni Shepherd-Kelley as the Saint Support Superstar.

Together, they tell a story that goes far beyond box scores — one rooted in commitment, culture, and community.

Female Saint of the Month — Alea Fisher (Softball)

If the early weeks of the 2026 softball season are any indication, Alea Fisher is poised to make a major impact for the Aquinas Saints.

A native of Buchanan, Michigan, Fisher brings an impressive athletic background and a competitive spirit that has been evident since the moment she arrived on campus. A Clinical Exercise Science major on the Pre-Physical Therapy track, she balances a demanding academic schedule while continuing to elevate her game on the diamond.

Fisher's athletic journey began early. She first picked up a softball at the age of four, and over the years that passion turned into a decorated high school career. During her prep years she earned multiple All-Conference, All-District, All-Region, and All-State honors while helping guide her program to a state runner-up finish during her junior season. As a senior, her team captured both conference and district championships, highlighting her impact as both a player and leader.

But Fisher's athletic résumé extends far beyond the softball field. A true multi-sport competitor, she also played volleyball and basketball throughout high school and during her first two collegiate seasons. That versatility has helped shape the well-rounded, team-first mindset she brings to Aquinas.

For Fisher, success has never been defined by statistics alone. She views success as growth — both personally and academically — while preparing for graduate school and a future career in physical therapy.

When it came time to choose a college home, Aquinas immediately stood out. Fisher was drawn to the beauty of the campus and its natural surroundings, a setting that provides both inspiration and balance for a student-athlete pursuing excellence.

That balance has already translated into strong results early in the season. Through the Saints' first nine games, Fisher has been a steady presence in the lineup. Entering March, she was batting .423 with an on-base percentage of .467 and an OPS of .929.

In just 26 at-bats she collected 11 hits and drove in eight runs while consistently delivering quality at-bats. She has also shown impressive discipline at the plate, drawing three walks while striking out only once.

Beyond the numbers, Fisher's competitive energy and calm confidence have made her a respected presence within the Saints clubhouse.

When she's not on the field, Fisher enjoys scary movies and comedies, often with headphones on listening to rap or R&B — a small glimpse into the personality of a player who brings both focus and fun to the Aquinas softball family.

Head Coach Patty Jansen says Fisher's influence extends well beyond the stat sheet.

"Alea is the type of player every coach hopes to have," Jansen said. "She brings experience, toughness, and a genuine love for the game every single day. What stands out most is how she supports her teammates and competes with such consistency. She's the kind of athlete who makes everyone around her better, and we're fortunate to have her representing Aquinas softball."

Male Saint of the Month — Cam Moore (Men's Basketball)

For the Aquinas Men's Basketball program, Cam Moore has become the type of player every successful team needs — reliable, unselfish, and fully committed to doing whatever it takes to help the Saints win.

Moore, a native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, is a dual major in Business Administration and Sports Management with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Communications. In the classroom and on the court, he represents the balance required to thrive as a student-athlete.

Before arriving at Aquinas, Moore built a strong foundation at Kalamazoo Central High School. During his prep career he earned All-Conference honors and helped lead his team to a regional championship. Perhaps most telling, he was also the recipient of his team's "Glue Guy" Award — recognition given to the player whose leadership and effort hold everything together.

That identity has followed him to Aquinas.

Moore has embraced the role of doing the little things that help teams succeed — defending, moving the basketball, spacing the floor, and bringing consistent energy every time he steps on the court.

He has also excelled academically, earning Academic All-Conference recognition while maintaining the discipline needed to succeed both in the classroom and in competition.

Moore says he chose Aquinas because of the welcoming campus environment and the strong sense of community that defines the college.

During the 2025–26 season, Moore appeared in 26 games and made 25 starts, averaging 26.5 minutes per contest. He scored 156 points on the season and connected on 46 three-pointers, giving the Saints a reliable perimeter threat.

He also contributed 52 rebounds, 37 assists, and 20 steals, showing his willingness to impact the game in multiple ways.

Yet the numbers only tell part of the story.

Moore's presence in the locker room and his willingness to embrace any role have made him one of the most respected members of the team.

Away from basketball, Moore enjoys spending time with family and friends, and one of his favorite traditions comes every Christmas when his family gathers to watch the film Remember the Titans — a fitting favorite for someone who believes deeply in teamwork and unity.

Head Coach Ryan Bertoia says Moore embodies the values the Aquinas program strives to promote.

"Cam is the definition of a team-first player," Bertoia said. "He shows up every day ready to work, ready to compete, and ready to support his teammates. What makes him special is that he never worries about individual recognition — he just wants the team to succeed. Players like Cam are the foundation of a strong program."

Saint Support Superstar — Women's Volleyball Assistant Coach Jenni Shepherd-Kelley

Great programs are built by great people, and few have contributed more to the continued success of Aquinas volleyball than assistant coach Jenni Shepherd-Kelley.

Now in her seventh season with the Saints, Shepherd-Kelley has become an essential part of one of the premier volleyball programs in the NAIA. Her preparation, competitive drive, and commitment to student-athlete development have helped elevate the culture of Aquinas volleyball year after year.

Working alongside head coach Ryan Campbell, she plays a key role in preparing the Saints for competition while also helping players grow both on and off the court. Her ability to connect with student-athletes while sharpening their technical skills has made her a trusted mentor within the program.

That impact was recognized nationally this season when Shepherd-Kelley was named the NAIA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year, an honor that highlights both her coaching ability and the continued success of the Aquinas program.

Within the Aquinas community, her influence extends far beyond practices and match days. She is known for her relentless work ethic, her ability to motivate players, and the pride she takes in representing Aquinas College.

Head Coach Ryan Campbell says her contributions to the program are impossible to overlook.

"Jenni has been an integral part of our success at Aquinas College," Campbell said. "Her ability to connect with our athletes while sharpening their technical skills is special. She's a relentless competitor, an outstanding motivator, and she brings out the very best in our players every single day. Our program simply wouldn't be where it is without her leadership."

Final Thoughts

From clutch hits on the softball field to steady leadership on the basketball court and the tireless work behind one of Aquinas' premier programs, this month's honorees represent the heartbeat of Saints Athletics.

Alea Fisher, Cam Moore, and Coach Jenni Shepherd-Kelley remind us that success is built through consistency, connection, and a willingness to show up for one another — whether that's in the dugout, the locker room, or behind the scenes helping a program thrive.
