Yorktown, IN – If there was one word to describe the Aquinas women's golf team this spring it would be consistent.

The Saints concluded the season this week with another tremendous showing at the WHAC Championships, played at The Players Club at Woodland Trails.

Aquinas placed fourth among the 12 teams at the three-team event, capping off a season that showed constant growth.

The Saints finished at +136 with a score of 1,000, 36 strokes back of WHAC tournament champion Northwest Ohio. Three girls placed in the top 25.

Aquinas had a team total of 331 on both the first round and final round. They carded 338 in the second round.

Freshman Quinn Clement led the team in scoring as she was consistent as anyone could be with three straight rounds of 81 for a 243 total, which put her in a tie for 10th overall with Indiana Tech's Elin Gebrowski.

Clement excelled on the par 3's, finishing among the top individuals at 1-over-par. She also performed well on the par 5's, going 2-over-par.

Junior Jayda Kerns secured a spot on the all-WHAC second team with a 15th-place finish and a 246 total.

She started strong with a 81 before closing with 84 and 82.

Kerns was the team leader in birdies with four.

Aquinas received major contributions from its remaining three players, sophomores Ava Clark and Ellie Christian and junior Zoey Quinn.

All three girls shot in the 80s for all three rounds, helping Aquinas overtake its closest pursuers.

Clark ended in a tie for 21st after firing an 83 in the final round. She also had rounds of 85 and 88.

Quinn (84-87-87) tied for 23rd, while Christian (89-86-85) finished in 27th-place.

With no seniors on this year's roster, the future looks bright for the young Saints as they look to improve in the offseason and contend for a WHAC championship next year.

Coach's Comments

Head Coach Matt Denhartigh: "I was super happy with the way the girls played this week. They played fantastic, and even held the lead in the tournament through 20 holes or so. I saw a lot of fight in these girls as they battled through the ups and downs of their rounds. I see a lot of good things to come for these girls next season, and with a strong offseason of practice and development, I don't see any reason why we can't make a run for first place next spring."
