Aquinas College

Freshman Jakob Sturgeon begins his collegiate baseball career with the Aquinas Saints while pursuing a degree in Accounting. A native of Livonia, Michigan, and graduate of Livonia Churchill High School, Sturgeon brings an impressive multi-sport background and more than a decade of baseball experience.

Sturgeon played baseball for 12 years, including four varsity seasons, while also playing hockey for 14 years. During his senior season, he earned his team's Most Improved Player Award and helped lead Livonia Churchill to a regional finalist appearance. He also competed with the Mud Hens Baseball Club before joining the Saints.

Jakob chose Aquinas because he immediately felt he could become part of something bigger than himself while representing the Grand Rapids community. He hopes to build lifelong relationships with teammates and coaches while helping bring championships back to Aquinas. Away from the field, Jakob enjoys building LEGO sets—especially Star Wars and car collections—and lists Iron Maiden's "The Number of the Beast" as one of his favorite songs.
