Hunter Huff joined the Aquinas Athletic Department prior to the 2023-24 season and serves as both an assistant coach for the AQ men's basketball program and as the Aquinas Athletics External Rentals Coordinator.
As the External Rentals Coordinator, Huff directly communicates with external clients to schedule and fulfill requests to utilize the Aquinas athletics facilities.
His duties as a men's basketball assistant coach include player development and training, scout and film preparation, practice plan development, and recruiting for both varsity and junior varsity.
Prior to joining the coaching staff, Hunt spent the previous two seasons as a captain on the basketball team while earning his Masters in Management Degree in the Spring of 2023. He worked in the Sports Information Department as the head student worker, coordinating other student worker schedules and filming various sporting events. During the summer, he worked as a Court Monitor on the Under Armour UAA NXT Circuit in Indianapolis, Kansas City, Atlanta, and the finals in Chicago.
Before his time in Grand Rapids, Huff served as captain of the men’s practice squad for the Women’s Basketball team at the University of Tennessee, earning his undergraduate degree in Business Management in 2021. During his time with the Lady Volunteers in Knoxville, he worked with and trained 3 future WNBA first-round draft picks and multiple All-SEC players, while competing in practices and assisting with various duties - such as scouting, filming games, and pregame warm-ups.
Huff previously worked as the head skills trainer for the West Bearden Basketball League in Knoxville during his first two years at UT while recovering from a knee injury. He was also the head coach of two AAU teams and led basketball camps during the spring and summertime, while individually training players of all levels. He still is very active in the personal training realm where he works with many current and former college players, in addition to some overseas players.
Huff attended Hardin Valley Academy in his hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee where he played high school basketball all four years - being named captain his senior year. He assisted in coaching the JV team his senior year while he also started on the Varsity.
