Aquinas College

Sophomore Austin Waalkes continues his academic and athletic journey at Aquinas while pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Management. A hardworking forward, Waalkes is focused on developing his skills both on the ice and in the classroom as he prepares for his future career.

Before arriving at Aquinas, Waalkes captained West Ottawa High School and earned Honorable Mention recognition. He later helped the Fresh Coast Freeze capture a USPHL regular-season division championship while also competing for the Connecticut Jr. Rangers. Growing up, he also played lacrosse along with youth hockey for the Grand Valley Stars and Ice Dogs.

Austin believes success at Aquinas comes from maintaining a healthy balance between academics, athletics, and personal growth.

Away from the rink, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and finding unique deals on Facebook Marketplace.
