Matt Wagner

Matt Wagner

Matt Wagner rejoined the Saints as an assistant coach after a decorated Aquinas playing career (’22). A shutdown defenseman, he was a 4× WHAC First-Team selection and 3× NAIA All-American, bringing elite standards and a defender’s mindset to the staff. Wagner arrives from Forest Hills Eastern, where he served as assistant varsity coach and head JV coach, helping the program to a 2024 state runner-up finish. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a dual major in Sports Management, and is based in Grand Rapids, Mich. Known for his energetic, detail-driven work with the defensive unit and man-down schemes, Wagner is passionate about player development and program culture. Away from the field, he enjoys college and pro football, bowling, golf, and—of course—lacrosse. The son of Todd and Jodie Wagner, he has one sister, Jordan. Wagner chose Aquinas to give back to “an amazing program” and help the Saints compete at the highest level.
