Chris Brassard is in his first season coaching the Aquinas women's hockey team.
Prior to joining the Saints before the start of the 2022-23 season, Brassard last coached the Western Michigan Stallions, an ACHA program, from 2013-20. In Brassard's seven seasons, the Stallions won 117 games with the 2018-19 campaign being their best with a 22-11-0-1 overall record. Western Michigan also made national tournament appearance during the 2015-16 season.Â
Brassard, a native of Toronto, Canada, also played semi-professional hockey for 11 years in the ECHL with four different teams, the CHL with four different teams and had a brief stint overseas in Germany. Brassard attended and played hockey at St. Francis Xavier University in Canada from 1996-98. He later finished his education at LSU while playing for the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs from 2004-07.  Â
At the end of his playing career, Brassard started helping various youth hockey development programs — KOHA, Graeme Townsends National Hockey Development, the Rock Solid Hockey Camp in Louisiana and the Chris Chelios Hockey School in Chicago — as a skills instructor before pivoting into coaching.Â
