Fillipa Struxsjo knotched a hat-trick for the women's soccer team as they defeated Lourdes for a road conference win in Sylvania, Ohio. The win improves the Saints record to 10-2-1 overall and 5-1 in WHAC play.
Struxsjo wasted no time in putting the Saints ahead early, scoring from 15 yards out on the left wing in just the 8th minute. The junior from Sweden doubled the Saints' lead 15 minutes later when she took a pass from
Jenna Konwerski and converted for her second goal of the game. The Saints held on to the two goal lead as they entered the half-time break.
Aquinas would put the game completely out of reach in the 59th minute, when Stuxsjo took on the Lourdes defense and beat the keeper for a third time, giving her her first hat-trick as a Saint. Struxsjo now has eight goals on the season.
The Saints put the finishing touches on the match in the 87th minute when
Abby Frankhouse converted a rebound in the box into her fourth goal of the season.
Hannah Crum was credited with an assist on the play.
Aquinas outshot the Grey Wolves 28-4 on the day. Saints goalkeeper
Braeleigh McCoy earned her fourth indviidual shutout of the year by making two saves.
The Saints are back in action next Wednesday at the AQ Athletic Field in a match that has been moved up to a 5:00 pm start time.
