The men's lacrosse team has signed its first member of the 2020 recruiting class, receiving a LOI from Plymouth, Michigan's David Bartnicki.
Bartnicki, a close defender, preps at Canton High School, where he helped the Chiefs win a Regional Championship in 2017. Last season, he earned the team's Unsung Hero Award.
Bartnicki plays his travel lacrosse for Premier Lacrosse Group (PLG), where he has played the last six seasons in the summer and two for the winter box team. This past summer, his PLG 2020 Platinum team went 19-2 across the summer, winning two tournaments against top competition in the Midwest. He also played a year with Juiced Cherries and for a tournament with Pittsburgh 412 Elite.
"We are very excited to kick off our recruiting class with David," said head coach Doug Seites. "He's a player we have been watching for a few years now and we always knew he would make a great Saint. David's a great student and teammate and has played with and competed against some of the top talent in the Midwest. He's a talented defender who is going to come in and compete and make us better right away."
"The first time I was on campus I felt that I belonged there," said Bartnicki. "I like the campus, all the people I have met, and everything Aquinas offers." Barnicki will study Business and Pre-law at Aquinas College.
