Grand Rapids, Mich. — The stage could not be any bigger for the Aquinas College Men's Lacrosse team tonight in Decatur, Alabama. The #3-ranked Saints will battle #6 SCAD Savannah in the quarterfinal round of the NAIA National Tournament with a trip to Thursday's National Semifinals on the line.
Opening faceoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. local time as two of the nation's premier programs square off in a winner-take-all showdown.
Aquinas enters the matchup battle-tested after navigating one of the toughest schedules in the NAIA throughout the 2026 season. The Saints have spent most of the year ranked among the nation's elite and arrive in Alabama hungry for another shot at a national title run.
SCAD Savannah presents a dangerous challenge of its own. The Bees have proven all season they can score in bunches, play fast in transition, and capitalize on mistakes. Aquinas will need to be sharp from the opening whistle against a SCAD squad capable of changing momentum quickly.
For the Saints, the keys tonight will revolve around discipline, possession, and defensive communication. Aquinas has thrived all season when winning ground balls, controlling faceoffs, and forcing opponents into uncomfortable possessions. The Saints will also look to their veteran leadership and explosive offensive weapons to dictate tempo early and keep pressure on the Bees defense.
Meanwhile, SCAD's path to victory likely centers around creating transition opportunities and trying to speed up the game. The Bees are dangerous when they can play downhill and generate quick-strike offense, making AQ's ability to limit turnovers and control pace absolutely critical.
The margin for error in games like this is razor thin.
One hot goalie.
One extra possession.
One man-up opportunity.
One momentum swing.
That can be the difference between advancing to the Final Four or heading home for the offseason.
