The men's soccer team continued its winning ways this afternoon in Rochester Hills, beating Rochester University by a final of 2-0. Its the second straight win in WHAC play for the Saints, who are unbeaten in their last three and have posted back-to-back shutouts. The win improves the Saints' record to 3-3-2 in WHAC play and 4-6-5 overall.
The Saints took control of the game early, scoring twice in the games first 30 minutes of play.
Andrea Ghiggini opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with his first goal of the season and his Saints' career. Just eight minutes later the Saints doubled their lead on a goal by
Jake Ireland, his second of the year.
Jackson Moore, the reigning WHAC Offesnive Player of the Week, assisted on Ireland's goal, his third straight game with an assist.
Aquinas outshot their hosts 20-10 on the afternoon and earned three corner-kicks to the Warriors' one. Goalkeeper
Antonio Strassioto made three saves in net for his second-straight shutout and fifth of the season. Strassioto and the Saints' defense have held opponents scoreless for the last 215 minutes of game action.
The Saints are back in action this Saturday as they travel to Livonia, Michigan to take on Madonna, currently 2nd in the WHAC standings. Game time is set for 3:00 pm.
